Manchester United's transition from Erik ten Hag to Ruben Amorim has been anything but smooth. The Red Devils are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table with eight losses in 18 games. Despite signing Amorim, a former Sporting boss, the team has struggled to find any momentum.
Defender Harry Maguire recently admitted that the transition period is tough because Amorim's style is completely different from ten Hag's. "The thing is with the managers and the styles, it is not like they have come in and they have similar styles," Maguire told Sky Sports. "They are the total opposite in terms of what they want and what they demand. So the transition period is going to be tough. We all have great belief in the manager and all his coaching staff. I am sure things are going to turn around."
Amorim, who favors a back three, has won four, lost five, and drawn one of his 10 games since taking over from ten Hag in November. United's recent 2-0 loss to Wolves has only added to the pressure on the new manager.
Adding to the turmoil, Fabrizio Romano has reported that a star player earning £150,000-a-week is likely to leave Manchester United as Amorim doesn't want him. "He doesn't fit into Amorim's plans, and it seems like the player is also keen on a move," Romano said.
Despite the challenges, Amorim remains optimistic about turning things around at Old Trafford. "Every manager is in danger of being sacked, but I believe in my vision and the process we are implementing," Amorim told reporters.
As Manchester United prepares to host Newcastle United in their next Premier League clash, all eyes will be on Amorim and his ability to navigate this difficult transition period.
