Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that Nigerian forward Victor Boniface will be sidelined for an extended period following a minor setback in his recovery from a thigh injury. Boniface, who has been out of action since November 2024, was initially expected to return to the pitch in January 2025.
The setback occurred just as Boniface was making progress in his rehabilitation. He was notably absent from the squad for a recent friendly match against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso expressed disappointment but remains hopeful for Boniface's full recovery.
Before his injury, Boniface had an impressive start to the season, scoring eight goals in 15 appearances. His absence will undoubtedly be felt by the team as they continue their campaign in the Bundesliga and other competitions.
